Blogoversary: Introducing JB & Andy!

It was almost one year ago today that I started the Real Life with Kids blog.  It’s been a fantastic year and I have learned quite a bit about blogging and the fantastic blogging community out there.  The people I have met have been amazing and kind and generous with their time and talents.  A great big “THANK YOU” to all of you!

As Real Life with Kids enters into its second year – I am absolutely thrilled to announce that my two sisters, the other 2/3 of my childhood Charlie’s Angels, and the other 2/3 of the McGuire Sisters’ “Sugartime” and Johnny Cash’s “Ring of Fire” singing and dancing trio – JB and Andy – are going to be joining Real Life with Kids as co-bloggers and contributors.  You can learn more about each of them by clicking on the link to their pages up top.

My sisters are amazing people.  They are both super smart, funny, and know exactly which buttons to push to make me want to poke my eyes out.  I like to think that – as the oldest sister – I might have had some small part in their button pushing development…

When we were kids – our dad would sit us down at the kitchen table, select a sentence at random from one of the many books in our house, and set the timer.  We would each start out with the same sentence and write for however long he set the timer.  When it went off we would read our stories to each other.  Is it any wonder we grew up to enjoy writing?

Andy has contributed a post already to RLWK – entitled “Toddlers are Like Drunk People”.  JB is actually a published author – which is kind of big deal.  We’ll be showcasing her books next week.  In the meantime – you can check out some of her shorter works here.  (Banana Man is my absolute fave)  Andy and I have each been promised a crisp $5 bill when she makes her first million.

In celebration of my blogoversary AND my two sisters joining the RLWK team – we are having a giveaway!!!  What are we giving away, you ask?  Why, three fantabulous prize packs that reflect each of the three sisters here at Real Life with Kids!

The “Andy” Prize Pack

Including: A 20 oz Pepsi, the current issue of “People” Magazine, and a bag of M&M’s.

The “JB” Prize Pack

Including: A black coffee mug because JB likes her coffee like she likes her fiction – “Noir”, a couple of pens, and the requisite box of Hot Tamales.

The “Cate” Prize Pack:

Including: A bag of $0.99 Cheetos, a 20 oz Diet Coke, and a brand new copy of Charlaine Harris’ “Dead in Dallas” (the series that True Blood is based on!)

The three prize packs are a reflection of what we each like to do in our free time.  Notice the lack of unmatched socks and dogs needing a bath.
